This festival is a celebration of life in the regions of Southwest Virginia, Eastern Kentucky and Southern West Virginia. The festival is centered in Grundy, an historical coal mining town in Buchanan County. Four tracks of education, presented throughout the festival, will include those which focus on coal mining, agriculture and logging, wildlife of the Cumberland Plateau and Appalachian culture.

10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Old Regular Baptist Sunday Morning Church Service Everyone is invited to attend an old time church service conducted by the Little David Old Regular Baptist Church with Reverend Frank Newsome and other elders of the church. Reverend Newsome was recognized with a Virginia Heritage Award as being a "Master of traditional art forms" by the Virginia Commission of the Arts in 2009. A capella singing will be led by Reverend Newsome during the service. Reverend Newsome has appeared as a featured guest at the Smithsonian Festival of American Folk Life and the National Folk Festival in Richmond. |
